Can you benefit by volunteering your time?

Many individuals offer their time and energy into helping others in a variety of settings.  Whether they assist in schools, hospitals, or libraries, their services are invaluable to the recipients of their services.  When most people choose to volunteer, they do so to help others, without thinking about themselves.  We now know, thanks to the efforts of many brilliant researchers, that the volunteers themselves, reap great rewards.  The obvious benefit is the increase in socialization, which is so important for healthy aging.  Volunteering is also known to reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and stress levels.  People who volunteer are also less depressed and have a better feeling of self-worth.  This is just a short list of the benefits of volunteering.  Learn more about this topic through my program, "Volunteering Your Time: Who Benefits?".  Dates and locations to be determined.
